Announcing: 2019 DBT Skills Class for Teens

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills group is for teens (13 – 18 years old) with depression, anxiety, self-harm behaviors, suicidal ideation, school pressure, and family or peer relationship issues.

In group, teens learn to regulate emotions, manage stress and crisis situations without making them worse, and get along better with others.

DBT skills are taught through a 24 week skills group which is based on Dr. Marsha Linehan’s curriculum. The four modules taught in group are: core mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

During the 24 weeks, enrollment is open between each module. Once the next module begins, enrollment closes again.

When teens sign-up for the DBT skills group, they make a commitment to attend the entire module (6 -8 weeks) of the course.

The DBT skills group is run very much like a class or a seminar. It meets once per week for ninety minutes. Participants are provided with notebooks, and are asked to complete weekly homework to reinforce the skills taught in group. Parents participate at the end of each class, learning the weekly skill so they can practice alongside their teen.
